Product Details

Georgia-Pacific’s DensDeck® Roof Board was the first glass fibre mat faced, gypsum based board for use as a cover board in flat roofing. For over 30 years it has proved it is strong, highly moisture resistant, non-combustible and can improve the overall performance of your roof

Since DensDeck® Roof Board redefined roof boards in 1987, Georgia-Pacific’s innovation has continued producing industry-leading high-performance roof boards. EONIC™ Technology has doubled the moisture resistance of DensDeck® Prime Roof Board, and the new DensDeck® StormX™ Prime Roof Boards helps mitigate the forays of extreme weather including severe hail.

Including a high performance roof board in your roofing system is essential to the protection of the building and the valuable contents inside. Industry professionals count on DensDeck® Roof Boards to enhance the performance of their roofing systems.

The best way to protect the roof is to prepare for the worst by building the best. In the event of a fire, choosing the right high-performance roof board for your building can make all the difference in protecting the roof. But the materials used in the roof boards also make a difference. DensDeck®, DensDeck® Prime, DensDeck® StormX™ Prime Roof Boards are made from both gypsum and glass mat, both fire-resistant and non-combustible materials.

Whether the source of a fire is inside the building or out, it needs oxygen, fuel, and heat to progress. Combustible roofing materials can ignite and fuel a fire when exposed to the right conditions. But non-combustible materials may help starve an active fire by depriving it of additional substance to burn, while also blocking flames and heat from igniting adjacent layers in the roof. DensDeck®, DensDeck® Prime, DensDeck® StormX™ Prime Roof Boards are made from materials that will help enhance the fire resistance of the roofing assembly.

A well-designed roofing system will have the strength and resistance to hold up under a variety of conditions for the duration of its lifespan.

Dropped tools and heavy equipment can make for dangerous conditions while installing, repairing, and performing maintenance on a roof. From simple maintenance-related holes to large tears associated with dislodged equipment, punctures big and small can leave the insulation exposed to the invading effects of moisture, airflow, and bulk water. A falling tool or heavy hammer can pierce the assembly, which is why a rigid roof board, like DensDeck®, can help protect the more vulnerable materials within. DensDeck® Prime and DensDeck® StormX™ Prime Roof Boards’ increased compressive strength, compared to some other roof cover boards, helps them withstand puncture under impact.

The stress of human foot traffic on the roof during installation, maintenance work, or rooftop public use can also lead to accelerated membrane wear and punctures, which left unchecked can leave openings for water to seep through. Preventing damage to the insulation layer, which could impact the building’s overall energy efficiency, with the use of a roof cover board, could help make the roof last longer.
